Just a quick little spoiler-free review.

If you’re like me and loved Guardians of the Galaxy, you probably had high expectations for its sequel. I was lucky enough to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 at the Everyman Cinema on opening night. Like most cinemas, the Everyman is a little pricey, but it gives you a better all round experience and better service than most. I treated myself to a Chambord Royale champagne-cocktail and settled in to watch the film.

I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinion about Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Those who didn’t like it criticised that it tries too hard to be funny. I think this is true to an extent – the humour came across as a little forced in places – but if the aim was to make me laugh, it worked. The other problem with the comedy aspect was that they had already released a lot of the material in the trailer; they extended some of the jokes, but the humour didn’t seem so fresh. The sequel had a lot to live up to – the plot certainly wasn’t as good as the first.  But the costume design was incredible and overall I found the film entertaining – definitely worth a watch.
